About

Design For Everyone

Design For Everyone's ambition is embedded within the ethos of Inclusive Design - designing a scheme, facility, place or space where everyone irrespective of their ability, age, race or circumstance should be able to feel welcome.

Often barriers can be inadvertently built into environments, designs, policies and strategies that can prevent us all from feeling included.  We probably all travel, carry out tasks or negotiate various areas on a daily basis - for some that process will be relatively easy, whilst others will face massive challenges.

Susan has a wealth of experience and knowledge and can  work with you to identify the potential barriers and suggest alternatives.  She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and successfully joined their Inclusive Environment Consultation Scheme (IEC).   Susan is also a Consultant member of the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC).

Susan is passionate about an accessible and inclusive environment for everyone and is a contributing member of various panels / bodies / advisory groups. These include; NRAC Advisory Group, Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland (MACS), Network Rail Built Environment Accessibility Panel (BEAP), Disability Equality Scotland and West Dunbartonshire Place and Design Panel.

Other Work

Susan enjoys sharing her passion for Inclusive Design with others and delivers guest lectures and also speaks at conferences;  annual lectures to Occupational Therapy students at Glasgow Caledonian University and Inclusive Places students at University College London (UCL) and Accessibility Scotland.  Another area of volunteering Susan also enjoys is working closely with the charity PAMIS in promoting the provision of Changing Places Toilets.
